ICCO and Holmes Report to Cooperate on Global Awards and Research

18.04.2011

12 April 2011, LONDON / BARCELONA – The International Communications Consultancy Organisation (ICCO) and The Holmes Group have agreed to extend their strategic relationship to include joint organisation of the 2011 Global SABRE Awards as well as the sharing of insights for their respective global reports. In addition, the awards ceremony for the Global SABREs will be integrated this year into the ICCO Summit 2011, taking place September 29-30 in Sintra, Portugal.

The SABRE Awards have a 20-year heritage in the US and have been operating in the EMEA region for eight years, attracting close to 5,000 entries worldwide and representing the best of global public relations programming.

Competition for the Global SABRE Awards in cooperation with ICCO will draw from winners of the regional SABREs and of national awards programmes run by public relations trade associations from ICCO-member countries. Submissions will be judged by an independent panel put together by The Holmes Report.

According to Holmes Report editor Paul Holmes: “ICCO and The Holmes Group share a common mission: elevating the status of the public relations profession around the world. One way to do that is to showcase the best work being done by practitioners around the world, and our global expansion has demonstrated that there is great work being done in developed and developing markets, in every region. This new, global awards competition will spotlight the absolute best of that work.”

Trophies for the overall winners will be presented at a gala dinner taking place on the evening of Thursday, September 29 as part of the ICCO Summit programme. The dinner ceremony and garden cocktail preceding it are included in the delegate package for summit participants (online registration at www.iccosummit.org). Anyone wishing to attend the awards celebration without taking part in the Summit may purchase tickets separately via The Holmes Group (www.holmesreport.com), though space is limited.

The Holmes Group and ICCO have also agreed to share research data that will enhance the breadth and depth of insights gained into development of the public relations consultancy industry. Currently, the ICCO World Report provides a country-specific view of growth and trends across its global membership by collecting data from the national trade associations. The Holmes Report’s Global Rankings, on the other hand, is best known for its agency rankings but also gives a regional overview of market sentiment and the evolution of services – all of which is obtained by surveying individual agency heads around the world.

With the new partnership in place, the ICCO World Report will gain valuable perspective on market trends that drive the specific challenges faced by consultancies and help define the overall growth of public relations. The Holmes Report’s Global Rankings will in turn be able to offer a clearer picture of the developments in specific sectors and practice areas as well as of the differences from country to country.
