President & CEO EMEA, Edelman
Robert is the EMEA President and CEO of Edelman, the world’s largest public relations firm.
Robert’s 25-year career includes co-founding the leading UK consumer boutique, Jackie Cooper PR, which he sold to Edelman in 2004. He became UK CEO of Edelman in 2007, rapidly building capability in the digital space and taking the business from eleventh in the UK market to a top-5 spot within three years. He was appointed EMEA CEO in January 2011. Today, Robert continues to consult at a senior level for companies including Shell, Microsoft, Diageo, Mubadala and Unilever, as well as run a business region with fees of 0 million+, and nearly 800 people in eighteen offices.
His various professional accolades include having two campaigns ranked in PR Week’s Top 20 Campaigns of All Time and winning Consultancy of the Year for Edelman in 2009, a Gold Award in 2010 and EMEA Digital Agency of the Year in 2011. He is the author of Edelman’s thinking on the future of the communications sector – Public Engagement – and a co-author of much of the company’s work on Trust. He is also co-author of Citizen Renaissance (2008) and a frequent essayist on citizenship and democracy.
Robert is a board member of the PRCA; has served on the London Council of the CBI and its Climate Change Taskforce; is a founding supporter of the Names Not Numbers symposium; and has recently been approached to be a trustee of the New Economics Foundation and New Deal of the Mind.
